The Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. The Bishop, while interacting with Mr. Ndibe in the presence of the Manger and Principal of St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, Rev. Fr. Martin Ekee; and the Education Secretary of Awka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Maximus Okonkwo, described the achievement of Mr. Ndibe as very historic. He noted that such feat encouraged both the Government of Anambra State and the Church to do more in the education of young people.

Fides gathered that Mr. Emmanuel Ndibe is a Chemistry teacher at St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, and was among the nine Anambrians who distinguished themselves at the 2025 President and Schools’ Excellence Award which took place at Eagles Square Abuja on 5 October 2025 as part of activities marking World Teachers’ Day.

The Bishop who is known for his advocacy for the holistic formation of the human person, praised Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration for the incentives provided to the nine Anambrarians who brought the state to the national and global map, especially in their commitment to teaching and mentoring.

According to the Bishop, ‘Creating enabling environment for academic growth and providing incentives to those who distinguished themselves in their different fields give hope to the younger ones.’

To bring home his point the Bishop cited instances and maintained that those incentives had to be given and there should be palpable indications that they were done as they encouraged others to do well.

While congratulating Mr. Ndibe for the honour brought to the Diocese and the state, he noted that many hands were on deck for that kind success, even as he extended his congratulations to the staff and Management of St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu; the Education Secretary of Awka Diocese, and the Anambra State Government.

Similarly, the Manager and Principal, St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, Rev. Fr. Martin Ekee; and the Education Secretary of Awka Diocese, thanked the Bishop and congratulated Mr. Ndibe whom they described as a very committed and purpose-driven teacher.

Filled with gratitude to God and to the Bishop, Mr. Ndibe assured the Bishop and all present that the award had encouraged him to do more in his career as a teacher.
