The Managing Director and and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, has called on Anambra students to rally behind Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, as he seeks re-election, describing him as a visionary leader redefining governance through innovation and technology.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Ms Angela Nwanodu, and made available to newsmen in Awka.
Agbata made the call while delivering a keynote address at the Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Colloquium organized by the National Union of Anambra State Students (NUASS) at the ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, on Friday.
Speaking on the theme, “Rethinking Developmental Governance: The Philosophy of Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo”, the ICT boss highlighted what he described as the Governor’s transformative strides anchored on his philosophy of people-centered, knowledge-driven, and technology-powered governance.
He noted that Governor Soludo’s “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere” mantra had not only modernized governance in Anambra but had also opened vast opportunities for youths through digital empowerment initiatives and inclusive development programmes.
According to him, Prof Soludo’s philosophy was about building for tomorrow, using knowledge, data, and innovation. Under his leadership, he said, Anambra had moved from governance as routine administration to governance as innovation: one that empowered, transformed, and delivered results.
‘Governor Soludo may not have done everything, but he has done enough to earn our continued support so he can do even more,’ Agbata said.
Highlighting key achievements under the Soludo administration, he cited the Right of Way waiver, the Solution Wi-Fi Initiative with over 25 free public hotspots, the Smart School Project, and the 1 Youth, 2 Skills Programme as evidence of a government deeply committed to creating opportunities for young people.
He also highlighted the Anambra Silicon Valley Vision championed by the Solution Innovation District (SID), which he described as a strategic roadmap aimed at transforming the state into a regional hub for innovation, research, and enterprise, where young people could ideate, build, and scale digital solutions.
He emphasized that those initiatives had positioned Anambra as one of Nigeria’s most digitally active and forward-thinking states, earning national recognition at the 2024 NCCIDE and 2025 GOVTECH Awards for excellence in digital governance.
He further urged the students to take ownership of the ongoing transformation by lending their voices and votes to sustain what he called Soludo’s development agenda.
‘This revolution belongs to you, the young people. Governor Soludo has laid the foundation; it’s your duty to sustain it. Come November 8, let’s vote to continue building the Anambra of our dreams,’ he charged.
Responding on behalf of the student body, the President of NUASS, Comrade Felix C. Nwachinaemelu, commended Governor Soludo for what he termed his people-oriented policies and pledged the Union’s support for his re-election bid.
He noted that the Governor’s emphasis on youth inclusion, skill acquisition, and innovation, had inspired students across the state to believe more in governance, as well as their own role in shaping Anambra’s future.
The event, which drew the presence of NUASS leadership, university officials, and APGA stakeholders, celebrated Governor Soludo’s ‘visionary leadership and enduring impact on governance, innovation, and youth empowerment in Anambra State’.
