St. John’s Innovation Institute of Management and Technology (JIIMATECH), Neni, has held its 25th Silver Jubilee, Matriculation, and Exhibition Ceremony. The event which took place on 24 October, and presided over by Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor, the Bishop of Awka Diocese, featured innovations and projects by final-year students, highlighting their creativity and technical skills.
The ceremony commenced with a Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Ezeokafor, who, in his homily, encouraged students to learn diligently, practice self-discipline, and strive for excellence through dedication and hard work. Immediately after the Mass, the formal proceedings of the event began.
An award of appreciation was presented to individuals for their tireless contributions to the growth and development of the institution. Among the recipients were notable dignitaries, including His Lordship, Bishop Ezeokafor; National Chairman of APGA, Bar. Sylvester Ezeokenwa and Dr. Mrs. Nkiru Akabuike, among others.
The event also featured the blessing and official opening of the newly established Kitchen, ICT, and Solar Energy by Bishop Ezeokafor. A Jubilee tree was planted to commemorate the institute’s 25th Silver Jubilee.
During the matriculation ceremony, newly admitted students participated in a colourful procession, symbolizing their formal induction into the institution. They took the matriculation oath, pledging to uphold the rules and values of the institute.
The highlight of the day was the innovation exhibition where students from various departments presented their projects.
Bishop Ezeokafor personally inspected and blessed each project, commending the students for their creativity and innovation.
A formal Address of welcome was delivered by the SUG Secretary, Miss Faustina Mmesoma Muoneke, on behalf of the Management, staff, and students. She expressed appreciation to all dignitaries and guests present, including: Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Bishop of Awka Diocese; Rev. Fr. Chudi Peter Akaenyi, Vicar General; Rev. Fr. Charles Nduibisi, Diocesan Chancellor; Rev. Fr. Evaristus Ifeanacho, Bishop’s Secretary; Chief Sir Augustine Ibeme, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Chief Jekwu Ofodum; Chairman of the Occasion; Bar. Sylvester Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of APGA; Senator Uche Ekwunife, Mother of the Day, and other distinguished guests.
In her remarks, Muoneke described the day as a “multiple celebration”, signifying reflection, recognition, and renewal. She emphasized that the Silver Jubilee marked not only a milestone in the institute’s history but symbolized excellence, innovation, and academic growth.
She said that the final-year exhibition was recognized as a testament to students’ creativity and the practical application of knowledge gained during their studies.
The Rector, Rev. Fr. Raymond Umunnajiuba, in his address,on behalf of his Deputy, Fr. Anthony Okoyeatu and the Staff and Management expressed profound gratitude to Bishop Ezeokafor and all the clergy and guests present for their continuous support and encouragement. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting innovation in technology and management.
The event marked a significant milestone in the History of JIIMATECH, celebrating 25 years of academic excellence, innovation, and service to humanity.
