… Bishop Ezeokafor Urges Christians, Politicians

As Nigerians celebrate the 65th Independence Day Anniversary held on October 1, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, has called on Christians and political leaders to re-examine themselves and endeavour to do good at all times, stating that the best form of service is that which affects humanity positively. He urged all to always show compassion.
The 65th Independence Day Anniversary Concelebrated Eucharistic Celebration was held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka.
The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, was represented by the Deputy Governor of Anambra, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, while the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by his Secretary, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Ifeanacho.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, thanked the Bishop for his words of exhortation, saying that he had learnt a lot from the Bishop’s administrative skills and leadership.
‘Today, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, I had the honour of representing my principal, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, at a profound Independence Day Church Service. We were in the esteemed company of the religious, dedicated service chiefs, committed government officials, and the wonderful congregation.
‘As we mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the message was clear: the task of building a safer, more prosperous nation requires all hands on deck. In unison, we prayed for divine guidance and national renewal.
‘This call to duty aligns seamlessly with Mr. Governor’s transformative commitment to building a new, progressive Anambra, a vision he is relentlessly driving through strategic governance and inclusive development,’ Dr. Ibezim, concluded.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide equally worshipped at the Cathedral as part of their activities to mark this year’s World Igbo Day event held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, on Monday, 29th September.
