The residents of Agu-Awka and Ifite-Awka have commissioned a section of Dr Billy Okoye Boulevard, Book Foundation Axis, in Awka, recently reconstructed by the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, and supervised by the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, for smooth movement of the residents in the area.
The event, which took place recently, attracted the presence of commercial tricyclists and motorcyclists in the area; members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Awka Ward 8; officials of the ACTDA and those of Awka South Local Government Area, among others.
Speaking with the press during the event, the Chairman, Awka South LGA, Hon Prince Chinedu Okafor, represented by the local government Secretary, Sir Peter Uyanwune, said the road had been so bad, to the extent that even shuttle buses could not ride on it.
‘But today, Mr Governor has changed the narrative. As you can see, the road has been tarred, and the users can now enjoy smooth rides.
‘He is performing wonderfully and excellently well in Anambra, especially in Awka. For this, we, the people of Awka South Local Government, stand solidly behind him for his second term,’ he stressed.
In separate interviews with the press, the residents of the area who included the Councilor representing Awka Ward 8 in the Awka South Legislative Assembly, Hon Maduegbunam Olisa; the Chairman, APGA, Awka Ward 8, Mr Nathan Obikwelu; his Deputy, Mrs Onyeka Uchegbue; among others, expressed happiness and appreciation to the ACTDA and Governor Soludo, for reconstructing the road.
‘This road was impassable and a nightmare to the residents and the entire users.
‘We cried and called Mr Governor, through the ACTDA, the Governor heard our cries and the road today has been reconstructed,’ Olisa, Obikwelu, and Uchegbue said, and pledged 100% support to Soludo in the November 8 Governorship Election.
Also in separate interviews with the press, the Chairman, Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, Awka Zone, Prince Collins Ozojiofor; and the Chairman, Okada Riders Association, Book Foundation to Unizik Route, Mr Audu Mohammed, applauded and appreciated Governor Soludo for reconstructing the road.
