The Nimo-born Member representing Njikoka II Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Sir Pete Chima Ibida, KSJI, has described the 2019 historic 7 new Catholic priests and 4 final professed Reverend Sisters of Nimo Catholic Deanery, as a sign of remarkable blessing to the community.
Hon Ibida stated this in an interview to the press at the grand reception for the 7 new priests and the 4 final professed reverend sisters at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Nimo, Njikoka L.G.A, Anambra State, July 21, 2019.
Ibida, who was the chairman of the occasion at the reception, said he was overwhelmed over the show of solidarity of Nimo people, who donated the new car gifts for each of the 7 new priests. He described the historic event of the 2019, 7 new priests and 4 final professed reverend sisters, the first in the history of Nimo, as a joyous event.
The legislator extolled the Dean, Nimo Deanery, Very Rev Fr Alphonsus Ezeoke for what he described as the manner at which the priest synthesized and made the event which has brought lasting joy to Nimo, a unique success.
Ibida pointed out that the gifts of the new priests and reverend sisters which came on the heels of the inauguration of the barely two years old Nimo Catholic Deanery has cleansed Nimo of what he described as the abomination that took place in the community recently.
He said, ‘Seven according to the Holy Bible is perfection, and with their priestly ordination, Nimo is already cleansed, and every son and daughter of Nimo will spring up, and excel in all their endeavours.
The two-time legislator continued, ‘The cleansing of Nimo has long started with the Holy Mass led by Most Rev Peter Okpaleke at the same Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in June 14. Henceforth, there is nothing that is not of God that would exist in Nimo again. Nimo is now cleansed, sanitized and a holy land. We are happy for that’.
Meanwhile, Nimo Deanery Pastoral Council (NDPC) through the address of welcome that was signed by the Vice Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Ndubuisi; Ordination Committee, Mr Greg Agwu; the Secretary of the Council, Gozie JeoSammy Okeke and the Dean, Very Rev Dr Alphonsus Ezeoke, has enjoined the new priests and religious, to uphold the vows they took, and be worthy ambassadors of the Church and the town.
The Council through the address, commended the car donors, Dr Sir & Lady Charles Mbelede; Sir & Lady J.C. Odike; Sir & Lady Paul C. Chidozie; Mr & Mrs Innocent Iguh; Mr & Mrs Elochukwu Aganama and Mayor & Mrs Reginald Ezeamii as well as the entire parishioners of the four parishes in Nimo that donated the 7th car for the priests, for their goodwill.
