On 13th June, 2024, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, hosted its 13th Inaugural Lecture, featuring Rev. Fr. Prof. Ben Ejide, a distinguished Professor of Educational Psychology. Prof. Ejide captivated the audience as the 13th Inaugural Lecturer, sharing his profound insights on education and cognitive development.

Prof. Ejide’s lecture, titled, “Cognitive Development, Intelligence, and Learning Styles: Imperative for Productive Education for National Development”, delved into the critical role of understanding cognitive processes in enhancing educational outcomes. He highlighted the importance of recognizing diverse learning styles and intelligence types to tailor educational strategies that fostered national development. By exploring those themes, Prof. Ejide provoked thoughtful discussions on how educational psychology could be leveraged to address educational challenges and promote effective learning environments.

In his address, Prof. Ejide emphasized the necessity of integrating cognitive development theories into educational practice to maximize student potential. He argued that a deeper comprehension of how students think and learn could lead to more effective teaching methods, ultimately contributing to a more productive and innovative society. Following his insightful presentation, the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, honoured Prof. Ejide by decorating him as a Super Professor. She commended him for his remarkable achievements and dedication to his field, urging other professors to follow his lead and share their knowledge through inaugural lectures. Prof. Omenugha’s remarks emphasized the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the continuous pursuit of knowledge for the betterment of society.
